Tattoo Removal Cost in Preston

Priced per session, by size. No bundles, no upselling — and no paying for sessions you never need.

Pricing

The honest answer, first

Laser tattoo removal at The Skinician costs £40, £55 or £85 per session, depending on the size of your tattoo. Most tattoos need a course of sessions to fade or fully clear, so your total depends on how your ink responds — and finding that out is precisely what your £5 patch test is for.

Every treatment is carried out one-to-one by certified laser specialist Lauren McVittie at our private clinic in Broughton — the same clinic, laser and specialist behind our laser tattoo removal in Preston service.

Per session

Three sizes. Three prices.

Measured at the longest edge. The band your tattoo starts in is the band it stays in.

Small

£40

Up to 3 inches — names, script, small symbols and fine-line pieces.

Medium

£55

3–5 inches — roughly palm-sized designs and mid-size work.

Large

£85

5 inches and above — larger panels, quoted per session, never per surprise.

A £5 patch test comes before your first session, and flexible payment plans are available if you’d like to spread the cost.

What decides your total

Why some tattoos cost more than others

Two tattoos the same size can need very different courses. These are the things that genuinely move the number.

Ink colour

Black and very dark inks absorb the 1064nm laser beautifully and clear fastest. Brighter colours hold on longer — Lauren will be straight with you about yours at the patch test.

Depth and density

Heavy, layered or re-worked tattoos carry far more ink per inch than a light first pass, and every extra layer is extra work for the laser.

Age of the tattoo

Sun and time have usually done some fading for free. A fifteen-year-old tattoo often clears noticeably faster than last summer’s.

Professional or amateur

Amateur ink tends to sit shallower and less evenly — often quicker to break down than dense professional work built to last.

Where it sits

Circulation does the clearing. Ink on your torso or upper arms fades faster than fingers, wrists and ankles, where blood flow is slower.

Removal or fade

If you’re fading for a cover-up rather than removing completely, you’ll need fewer sessions — and a smaller total.

The maths

How the totals add up

As a guide only: a small tattoo that takes six sessions comes to £240 in total. A medium piece over eight sessions, £440. Every tattoo responds differently — these are illustrations of how per-session pricing adds up, not quotes. Your patch test turns the guesswork into a real number for your ink.

Compare that with course bundles sold upfront elsewhere, and the difference is simple: with us, if your tattoo clears early, you simply stop paying. Curious how many sessions you’re likely to need? That’s a question with an honest answer of its own.

Good to know

Your questions, answered

How much is tattoo removal per session?
£40 per session for tattoos up to 3 inches, £55 for 3–5 inches, and £85 for larger pieces of 5 inches and above. The price never changes mid-course — the band your tattoo starts in is the band it stays in.
How much will it cost to remove my tattoo completely?
That depends on how many sessions your ink needs, which is decided by its colour, depth, age and density. Rather than guess, Lauren assesses your tattoo at a £5 patch test and gives you a realistic session estimate — so you can do the maths on real numbers, not hopeful ones.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. You pay per session as you go, and flexible payment plans are available if you’d like to spread the cost further. Ask Lauren at your patch test.
Is the consultation free?
We don’t charge for a conversation — but before any treatment you’ll need a £5 patch test, so we can check how your skin responds and price your tattoo accurately. It’s the most honest fiver in the building.
Why don’t you sell removal courses upfront?
Because nobody can promise exactly how many sessions your tattoo will take, and we’d rather you never pay for one you don’t need. Some clients stop early because they only ever wanted a fade for a cover-up; per-session pricing means stopping is free.
