Laser hair removal — your questions

How many sessions will I need?
Most clients see excellent results in 6–8 sessions, spaced a few weeks apart, as hair is only treatable in its active growth phase. If your hair growth is hormonal — for example PCOS — you may need 8–12. We’ll give you a realistic plan at your consultation.
Does it hurt?
Most people find it very tolerable — a warm pinprick or light elastic-band snap. Our 1064 Nd:YAG heats the follicle gradually and pairs with a cooling air system, so sessions stay comfortable and are quick.
Is it safe for dark or tanned skin?
Yes. The 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength is the gold standard for darker skin tones — it bypasses the melanin in your skin to target the follicle, making it suitable for all skin types, I–VI, and usable even in summer or on tanned skin. A patch test confirms your settings first.
Can it treat PCOS or excessive facial hair?
Absolutely — we specialise in it. Around 70–80% of women with PCOS experience unwanted hair growth, and laser is one of the most effective long-term options. Hormonal growth may need a few extra sessions, and we’ll plan for that.
How should I prepare?
Shave the area 24 hours before your session, and avoid sunbeds, self-tan and sun exposure for two weeks beforehand. Come with clean, product-free skin.
What’s the aftercare?
Expect mild redness like a light sunburn for a few hours. Apply a cool compress if needed, avoid direct sun and heat (hot showers, gym, sauna) for 48 hours, and use SPF on any exposed areas.
