“I had laser hair removal with Lauren at The Skinician, and she was absolutely amazing. She made me feel completely comfortable from start to finish, explained every step clearly, and the results have been fantastic.”
Chorley to the clinic: the honest version
Chorley has its own gravity: the Flat Iron, Market Walk, Astley Hall and the park behind it, and a railway station on the edge of the centre. It is also not short of places offering hair removal. The Skinician is not one of them, because we are not in Chorley. The clinic is in Broughton, around thirteen road miles north, above Preston on the A6.
The address worth putting in the satnav before you set off is 51 Woodplumpton Lane, Broughton, Preston, Lancashire PR3 5JJ.
- Woodplumpton Lane runs west off the A6 Garstang Road at Broughton, the far side of Preston from you.
- Free parking is available on site, which is one less thing to sort out at the end of a thirteen-mile run.
Two motorway routes work and there is little between them.
- Junction 8 of the M61 sits on the north side of Chorley, and the M61 empties into the M6 at Junction 30; from there you carry on northbound past Preston.
- Going west out of town past Euxton to Junction 28 instead puts you on the M6 a little further south, so it is a few more motorway miles and a few fewer on local roads.
- Both versions finish identically: leave at Junction 32, follow the A6 Garstang Road into Broughton.
- Around thirteen road miles all in, most of it motorway.
If motorways are not your thing, the A6 does the whole job on its own.
- North out of Chorley it runs through Whittle-le-Woods and Clayton-le-Woods, drops into Bamber Bridge and Walton-le-Dale, crosses the Ribble into Preston, then carries straight on up Garstang Road through Fulwood and out to Broughton.
- It is slower — a string of lights and thirty limits rather than three junctions — but it is one road the whole way, and it is the fallback worth knowing when the M6 is backed up around Preston.
Doing it without a car is possible, but it is not the easy option.
- Chorley railway station is on the Preston line, so that half of the journey is short.
- The awkward half is the other end: the clinic is four miles north of Preston city centre rather than in it, so you would still need a bus north up the A6 or a taxi from the station to finish the trip.
- Almost everyone coming from Chorley drives.
One thing worth being plain about: this page says near Chorley rather than in Chorley, and the wording is deliberate.
- There is no branch on Market Street, no room borrowed above a salon in town, and no practitioner who drives down and works Chorley on a Tuesday.
- There is one clinic on Woodplumpton Lane, and everything happens in it — consultation, patch test, and every session of the course after that.
- If you came to this page hoping for somewhere five minutes from the Flat Iron, better to read that at the top than to find it out three clicks in.
Thirteen miles each way, repeated, is the part to weigh up before you book rather than after.
- Laser hair removal is not one appointment: the clinic’s own guidance puts a course at eight to fifteen treatments depending on the individual, spaced to line up with your natural hair growth cycles, with occasional maintenance sessions afterwards.
- Reduction builds across the course rather than arriving in one visit, and how much changes varies from one person to the next.
- Multiply the drive by that number and you will know whether it is for you.
- The ring of villages round the town all feed the same two junctions — Euxton and Buckshaw Village to the west, Clayton-le-Woods and Whittle-le-Woods strung along the A6 north, Adlington south towards the moors, Coppull down the A5106 and Eccleston out west towards Croston — so the route above barely changes wherever in PR6 or PR7 you start from.
- Chorley’s satellites all sit on the same side of Preston, and the Euxton page sets out the western approach.
- If it is tattoo removal you are after rather than hair, that is a different treatment on its own page: tattoo removal for Chorley.
- The hair removal detail is on our Laser Hair Removal in Preston page.
What the drive buys you
Not a salon floor — one room, one practitioner
Lauren personally carries out every session herself, drawing on years of laser experience to tailor each treatment to your skin and hair. If you have been through a busy high-street salon before, the difference is mostly in what is missing: no reception queue, no handover notes, no being fitted around somebody else’s slot.
Thirteen miles is a real cost and there is no point pretending otherwise. What it buys is an unhurried appointment with the person who will still be treating you at the end of the course.
Across a course that runs over months, that continuity is really one diary rather than several. Your settings, how your skin behaved last time and what has already been covered stay in one place instead of being written down for whoever happens to be free — which counts for something once you have committed to driving up from Chorley every few weeks.
None of that makes the mileage disappear. If somewhere ten minutes from Market Walk gives you a true 1064 Nd:YAG laser rather than an IPL device, a private room and the same practitioner every visit, book that instead — the argument for Broughton has never been that we are nearer, because we plainly are not. It is that those three things turn up together in one room.
Two practical things make the trip land better. Pick the slot that suits the road rather than the one that suits the diary — the M6 past Preston at four in the afternoon is not the M6 at eleven in the morning — and ask, when you book, about covering more than one area in the same visit. [CLIENT TO CONFIRM: whether two treatment areas can be booked into a single appointment, and what that does to the appointment length.]

The Long Pulse Solid State 1064 Nd:YAG in the treatment room
You’re not just paying for the treatment – you’re paying for the technology behind it. Here’s why ours is the best for you.
Good to know
Chorley questions, answered straight
Only you can weigh that up, and the drive is real. What is on offer here is a single-practitioner clinic where Lauren does every session, a private treatment room, and the Long Pulse Solid State 1064 Nd:YAG described above rather than an IPL device — a true laser at one wavelength instead of a broad spread of light. Chorley is not short of places doing hair removal and plenty of them will be doing it well. If one of them gives you those same three things ten minutes from home, take the closer option; nobody should drive thirteen miles for something already on their doorstep.
Either motorway will do. M61 Junction 8 sits on the north side of Chorley and the M61 runs into the M6 at Junction 30; heading west out past Euxton to M6 Junction 28 instead puts you on the motorway a little further south. Both end the same way — off at Junction 32, onto the A6 Garstang Road, and the clinic is on Woodplumpton Lane at Broughton. Roughly thirteen road miles, nearly all of it motorway. If you would rather avoid one altogether, the A6 covers the whole distance through Clayton-le-Woods, Bamber Bridge and Preston. Free parking is available on site.
A patch test comes before any full session, so your first trip up is the consultation and patch test rather than treatment. That is one extra thirteen-mile run, and it is what lets the settings be matched to your skin before anything else is done — which is worth more than a saved journey. [CLIENT TO CONFIRM: how long after the patch test a first full session can be booked — the August 2026 page backups do not state the interval.] If the gap allows it, most people coming from Chorley would sooner line the two visits up in the same week than make the drive twice inside a fortnight.
No. This page is laser hair removal only. Tattoo removal is a separate treatment with its own settings and its own course length, and Chorley has its own page for it, linked further up. The clinic, the practitioner, the parking and the route up from Chorley are all identical — it is only the treatment that changes, so read that page instead of this one if ink is what you want shifting.
[CLIENT TO CONFIRM: opening hours, including any evening or Saturday appointments — the August 2026 page backups do not state them.] What can be said is that the booking page carries live availability, so you can see which slots are actually open before you commit to the drive north. Anyone setting off from Chorley at rush hour should pick the slot around the M6 rather than around the mileage — the distance is fixed, the traffic is not.
A fair question when the appointment is thirteen miles away and one closed lane can undo a careful start. [CLIENT TO CONFIRM: the lateness and cancellation policy — how late is too late, and what happens to a session if traffic makes it unworkable.] Until that is pinned down, the sensible approach is to leave a cushion on the first visit, when you are also finding the building for the first time, and to ring ahead if the road turns against you.
